Airbnb announced on Tuesday a significant expansion of its service offerings, introducing a new private car pick-up option available in 125 cities worldwide. This initiative, developed in partnership with transportation provider Welcome Pickups, allows users to easily book private transfers to their accommodations in popular destinations such as Paris, Bali, and Mexico City, aiming to streamline the arrival experience for travelers.
Seamless Arrivals and High Satisfaction
The new private car service follows a successful pilot program conducted throughout the year in Europe and Asia. This trial saw thousands of guests utilize the feature, reporting an impressive average satisfaction rating of 4.96 out of 5. According to Airbnb, once a guest reserves a stay in one of the eligible cities, an option to schedule a private taxi to their listing will become visible within the ‘Trips’ tab of the Airbnb app. Users will have the flexibility to view reservation details and make any necessary adjustments directly from the application.
Dave Stephenson, Airbnb’s Chief Business Officer, commented on the new offering, stating, “Airbnb Services are designed to enhance a guest’s stay, and our partnership with Welcome Pickups delivers that from the moment they arrive.” The company also indicated plans to progressively extend the service to additional cities and locations throughout the year, further broadening its accessibility.

Expanding Beyond Stays: Airbnb’s Integrated Travel Vision
This latest addition is part of Airbnb’s strategic evolution towards becoming a comprehensive travel platform. The company first introduced its broader ‘services’ category last summer, coinciding with an expansion into ‘experiences.’ At that time, it unveiled ten distinct service categories, enabling guests to book a variety of amenities including private chefs, catering, prepared meals, photography sessions, massages, spa treatments, personal training, and beauty services like hair, nails, and makeup across eight different countries.
Further demonstrating this integrated approach, Airbnb partnered with Instacart in November to provide guests with the convenience of ordering groceries both before and during their stays in select U.S. cities. The introduction of private car pick-ups reinforces Airbnb’s commitment to building a full suite of travel-related services. The company has also been exploring ventures into hotel room bookings, a move Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky highlighted during a Q4 2025 earnings call, emphasizing the immense opportunity in the hotel sector and the platform’s aim to cater to “no matter what kind of stay a guest wants.”
