Biden Warns of ‘Dark Days Ahead,’ Alleges Trump Aims to ‘Steal’ Midterm Elections

Former President Joe Biden has issued a stark warning, alleging that his successor, Donald Trump, intends to subvert the integrity of the forthcoming midterm elections. The admonition came during a significant public outing in South Carolina, where Biden was honored for his extensive career in public service.

While accepting recognition, Biden declared the nation is confronting a period of ‘dark days.’ These comments were delivered mere hours before the Trump administration launched military strikes against Iran.

Echoing a central theme from his successful 2020 campaign, which concluded Trump’s initial presidential term, Biden addressed the audience at the Columbia Museum of Art. He reiterated that the ‘battle for the soul of this nation is one that’s never truly over.’ He also voiced strong disapproval of Trump’s proposals to implement more stringent voting regulations in anticipation of the midterms.

Offering a glimmer of hope, Biden asserted, ‘In America, the power still belongs to the people for now. And the way to show the power is vote, show up and vote. And folks, when we do that, that’s bad news for Donald Trump, and he knows it.’

He further alleged, ‘That’s why he’s trying to pull out more and more barriers – put them up. He’s trying to steal the election, because he knows he can’t win your vote, so he’s going to do everything he can to prevent you from wanting to vote.’

The 83-year-old Biden has largely remained out of the public eye since concluding his term and undergoing treatment for an aggressive prostate cancer. While his health was not addressed in Friday’s address, Biden sharply criticized Trump’s recent State of the Union, particularly the omission of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, U.S. citizens tragically killed by federal agents during an immigration enforcement operation in Minneapolis this past January.

Additionally, Biden highlighted Trump’s failure to ‘offer a word of support, even recognition’ in his address for victims associated with the late, disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, noting Trump’s prior high-profile connections to Epstein.

Biden’s intervention comes at a time when President Trump’s approval ratings are notably low. Recent February polls reveal a majority of Americans disapprove of his job performance, and a separate national survey indicates widespread concern that the nation is moving in an unfavorable direction under his leadership.

It is worth recalling that Biden himself withdrew from the 2024 presidential contest following a heavily criticized debate performance in June of that year. He subsequently endorsed then-Vice President Kamala Harris, who was ultimately defeated by Trump in the general election, leading to his return to the White House.
