Travelers who had booked autumn getaways aboard Carnival Cruise Line’s *Carnival Firenze* are now facing unexpected changes to their vacation plans. The cruise operator has announced the cancellation of eleven scheduled voyages from Long Beach, California, affecting a period between October 12 and November 16.

These now-canceled sailings were predominantly short, three-to-four-night round-trip itineraries destined for Baja California, Mexico, with calls typically including Ensenada and, on select routes, Catalina Island, California. The decision means thousands of passengers will need to adjust their arrangements.
Revised Travel Plans for West Coast Cruisers
Carnival Cruise Line confirmed the cancellations, initially stating that modifications are sometimes necessary to “optimize voyages to meet guest demand or due to changing port availability.” However, the company later clarified that the *Carnival Firenze* will be embarking on new itineraries from Long Beach during the affected period, though further details about these new routes were not immediately disclosed.
Affected passengers have already been notified by Carnival and presented with two primary resolution options. The first allows guests to cancel their booking and receive a complete refund, which includes any pre-purchased add-ons like drink packages or shore excursions. Alternatively, travelers can opt to rebook another Carnival cruise, where their original fare will be protected for a similar sailing and accommodation type, coupled with an onboard credit for future use.
While some travelers have voiced disappointment, particularly those with holiday-themed cruises like Halloween sailings, many are exploring the rebooking options. Cruises departing from Long Beach both before and after the canceled dates remain available for reservation.
Understanding Cruise Line Schedule Adjustments
Cancellations, though not an everyday occurrence, are a part of the cruise industry and can arise for various operational reasons, including unforeseen maintenance periods, port availability issues, or strategic itinerary adjustments. This isn’t the first time Carnival has modified schedules; the company also recently canceled an October 2027 sailing of the *Carnival Splendor* from Sydney, Australia, due to a private charter.
The *Carnival Firenze*, which joined the fleet from Costa Cruises in 2024, is designed to accommodate over 4,100 guests. It offers a “Fun Italian Style” experience, blending Carnival’s signature festive atmosphere with Italian-inspired decor, culinary offerings, and ambiance, a concept also seen on its sister ship, *Carnival Venezia*. Looking ahead, the *Firenze* is slated to operate in South America in early 2027, followed by Caribbean and Bahamas cruises from Miami, before relocating to New York City for summer 2027 departures to the Caribbean and Canada.
