At its recent Artificial Intelligence Platform Conference (AIPCon), themed with the stark motto “There are no secrets,” data analytics giant Palantir presented its software as a crucial tool for both military and healthcare sectors. CEO Alex Karp openly embraced the company’s involvement in military operations, stating that Palantir is “in every single one of these fights” where operations are successful, lethal, and minimize harm to innocents. This stance was articulated on a stage that simultaneously showcased AI-driven patient management systems from hospitals and analytics for rodeo events, highlighting the company’s broad, often contrasting, client base.
While Palantir acknowledges partnerships and deployments supporting Ukraine, the U.S. military, and Israel, a written response to the UN Special Rapporteur stated the company’s support for Israel does not extend to involvement in the “Gospel” or “Lavender” systems. Karp expressed immense pride in contributing to the safe return of American service members, acknowledging the grim reality that this sometimes means adversaries do not return home. He conveyed that while employees might hold diverse views, once conflict begins, Palantir’s commitment is to support soldiers without internal debate.

Palantir’s Role in Military Innovation
The conference underscored Palantir’s deep integration into defense strategies, particularly with “Project Maven.” Initiated by the Pentagon in 2017 as an “Algorithmic Warfare Cross-Functional Team,” Maven initially focused on using computer vision to analyze reconnaissance and drone footage for automatic detection of vehicles and individuals. Cameron Stanley, the Pentagon’s AI chief, explained how Maven has evolved into a unified “Smart System,” replacing disparate systems with a single interface for rapid reconnaissance, assessment, and action. This platform integrates data, sensor feeds, software, and algorithms to expedite situational awareness, logistics, fire control, and targeting.
Beyond combat, Palantir’s technology is also enhancing military supply chains. The U.S. Navy collaborates with Palantir on ShipOS, an AI-powered operating system designed to optimize shipbuilding production, supply chains, and maintenance. Vice Admiral Seiko Okano lauded the system, emphasizing a move away from bespoke government solutions towards leveraging proven commercial technology. Similarly, Airbus has extended its strategic partnership with Palantir, utilizing the company’s technology for “Skywise,” an open data platform for civil aviation that aids in planning, supply chain management, flight operations, and aircraft production.
Transforming Healthcare and Public Services
In stark contrast to its military applications, Palantir also showcased its AI Platform’s capabilities in healthcare. Hospitals and health organizations presented systems designed to streamline patient coordination and accelerate hospital workflows. Examples included Tampa General Hospital’s connected care coordination and TeleTracking’s “Care Progression Navigator,” which significantly reduces the time required for clinical staff to assess patient statuses from hours to mere seconds, thereby enhancing patient flow, bed management, and operational decisions.
The Joint Commission, a leading non-profit accrediting over 80% of U.S. hospitals, also announced a strategic partnership with Palantir in 2025. William Walders, the organization’s IT head, highlighted how their new “Reforge” system, a nod to the Lord of the Rings’ reforged sword, drastically cuts the planning time for hundreds of weekly site evaluators from weeks to just three minutes. This efficiency, though partly achieved with on-site Palantir teams, raises questions about long-term sustainability. The Joint Commission ultimately envisions becoming a “data router of healthcare,” providing real-time accreditation status assessments.
AI’s Broader Societal Impact and Future Landscape
During the AIPCon, Alex Karp also delved into the profound societal implications of artificial intelligence, cautioning that AI is “dangerous” and poised to significantly disrupt economic and political power structures in Western societies. He suggested that highly educated voters, often aligned with Democrats, might be disproportionately affected by these shifts, while the economic standing of those in vocational trades and the working class could strengthen. Karp stressed that anyone who believes such a fundamental reordering of economic and political power would be without consequences is misjudging the situation, also questioning how these changes will be conveyed to those whose jobs become less appealing or interesting.
Beyond the core military and healthcare applications, Palantir’s influence extends to diverse sectors. Centrus Energy announced a partnership to enhance uranium enrichment processes, while World View showcased autonomous balloon platforms navigating target areas with Palantir software. Furthermore, Nvidia and Dell, in collaboration with Armada.ai, presented a reference architecture for mobile, container-based AI data centers, enabling Palantir’s Foundry platform to operate in challenging, remote environments such as oil rigs, mines, or Alaskan outposts, further cementing Palantir’s vision of pervasive data integration.
