Filming for Amazon MGM Studios’ highly anticipated series Tomb Raider, featuring Sophie Turner as the iconic Lara Croft, has been temporarily suspended. The pause in production comes after the series’ lead actress sustained a minor injury.

Amazon MGM Studios confirmed the incident in a statement, noting, “Sophie Turner recently experienced a minor injury. As a precaution, production has briefly paused to allow her time to recover. We look forward to resuming production as soon as possible.”
Production Pause Details
While the studio did not specify whether Turner’s injury occurred on set, sources close to the production indicate that the shutdown is anticipated to last approximately two weeks. During this period, all crew members are expected to continue receiving their wages.
This interruption comes shortly after the series commenced principal photography. Amazon MGM Studios, in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics, announced the start of production on January 15, releasing a first-look image of Turner embodying the adventurer Lara Croft. The series is primarily being filmed across various locations in the U.K.

The new Tomb Raider series is an exciting adaptation of the globally popular video game franchise, which chronicles the thrilling expeditions of archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft. Sophie Turner leads an impressive ensemble cast that includes acclaimed actors such as Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein.
The creative vision for the series is spearheaded by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, known for her work on Fleabag. She serves as creator, writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner. Chad Hodge joins her as co-showrunner and executive producer, with Jonathan Van Tulleken taking on directing duties in addition to his role as executive producer. Other executive producers include Jenny Robins through Wells Street Films, Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson via Story Kitchen, and Michael Scheel, alongside Legendary Television. Matt McInnis holds the co-executive producer credit, with Jan R. Martin serving as producer.
